La Résidence Phou Vao is “hands down the most luxurious lodging in Luang Prabang” according to Condé Nast Traveler Magazine. Originally built by the French in the 1950s, in 2001 it was thoughtfully renovated by a French architect, the 34 rooms and 2 suites are an aesthetic blend of rosewood, cotton and silk, and have balconies with inspiring views of the mountains, Phou Si Temple and the town.
The complex is a mix of Lao detailing and French colonial-style architecture, and the ’infinity’ swimming pool is a special feature.

La Residence Phouvao
Long-considered the leading hotel in Luang Prabang, this beautiful resort occupies a crest on Phu Vao (Kite Hill) on the southern edge of town. Formerly the Pansea, the rooms here are large and open-plan, with pool-like bathtubs and private verandas with day beds. |
